Hotel description

There’s a lot to look at in Florence, so much that they’ve actually got a name for the city’s particular brand of visual overstimulation: Stendhal Syndrome is the feeling of dizziness and confusion brought on by exposure to too much classic art, too much Renaissance architecture, and too many counterfeit designer handbags. Hotel Home knows that the last thing you’ll want from a hotel is more ornate, gilt-edged beauty to look at; their prescription is a monochrome and minimalist one, a look that’s easy on the eye, yet still characteristically Florentine in character.

Home’s thirty-nine rooms come in one color: white. It’s not quite Zen, as the baroque details you’d expect from an Italian boutique are present, it’s just that they’re whitewashed too — only the occasional metallic accent breaks up the background. It’s a winning strategy, and lends the place quite a bit more personality than you’d expect from such a simple color scheme.

A location just east of Florence’s old city center means anything you could desire is a short walk away. But this home is fully furnished all the same, a snack menu with Tuscan specialties, a small gym and massage area, and a private terrace offering panoramic views of the city’s skyline.
