Hotel description

Park Hotel Weggis opened in 1875 as Hotel Bellevue, and still retains its authentic Art Nouveau facade; but beneath the old-fashioned exterior is a boutique hotel in the most modern of styles. The contrast could not be more profound, and is a welcome surprise to pass from the exterior, with its twin lakeside chateaux, into a hotel full of Molteni furnishings and Philippe Starck light fixtures — an interior that would not be out of place in Milan or Copenhagen.

But, delightfully, this is not grey, industrial Milan, but Weggis, on the shore of Lake Lucerne, at the foot of Mount Rigi, in the central Swiss Alps. The climate is mild, and the region is known informally as the “Swiss Riviera,” with easy access to hiking, fishing, and boating. The medieval city of Lucerne is nearby, and Zurich is accessible by train.

Then again the hotel is a destination unto itself, and very few guests will feel the pull of Zurich. There are several fine restaurants and a couple of bars, and the hotel's wine cellar is extensive, with a selection of classics and specializing in cult wines. “Sparkling Wellness” is the spa, featuring an exhaustive list of treatments and a pebbled Zen garden location. Conference and presentation facilities are available as well, with the latest in audio-visual systems and ISDN lines for wired access to the outside world.
