The Royal Site of Aranjuez is located about 50 kilometers from Madrid on the banks of the Tagus River. This was a place of leisure for the Spanish Kings and reached its magnificence under the reign of the Bourbons dynasty during the XVIII century. The ideas of the Enlightenment adapted to the urban development of cities, embodied here in a balance between nature and architecture. This is why it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We´ll visit the inside of the beautiful Royal Palace with its fully furnished and decorated rooms and sections, like the Oriental room, the room of the Throne of Queen Isabel II and the magnificent Gardens of Aranjuez surrounding the Palaces which inspired poets, artists and musicians.
Next we´ll visit the Royal Boatbuilding Museum, built to keep the launches and vessels that were used to sail the River Tajo. This museum exhibits recreation vessels from the River Tajo fleet that date from the XVIII and XIX centuries, along with nautical instruments from the reign of Charles III and Phillip V.
