Come join us for a walking tour of Puebla including visits to the Cathedral, baroque and colonial jewelry houses, the Main Square, and fabulous “Rosario Chapel”, covered in 22 karat gold laminate stucco. Experience the feel as we walk through the Artists' Neighborhood and Candies Street.
Then begin the museum portion of our tour with a visit to Palafoxiana Library, founded in 1646 by Don Juan de Palafox & Mendoza, which still has its old bookshelves made of fine cedar and ayacahuite woods, holding more than 42,500 volumes of universal significance such as the Nuremberg Chronicle, De humani corporis fabric or the Gothic mass. Among its cultural wealth, there are 5,345 manuscripts and printed documents which include proclamations, edicts and engravings.
Then proceed to Amparo Museum, one of the most important of its kind in Latin America. This place has pieces of great value which range from prehispanic to contemporary times. For a taste of Mexican Art, we head to the Santa Rosa Museum (Dominican nuns). Legend has it that the most traditional Puebla dishes like Mole Poblano and Rompope were created here. We will end our tour with a visit to the Casa Alfeñique Museum which holds a very special collection of Puebla's historical artifacts.
