Paradise Island (Cayo Arena) is a sandy bank approximately 2000 m2 extension in the middle of a round atoll reef, unique in the Dominican Republic. Because of its unique position, out in the Atlantic close to Montecristi, it has a very special dessert-like climate with 330 days of sunshine per year. From Puerto Plata to Punta Rusia you travel through green hills, mountains with tropical rainforest, tobacco and rice plantations and desert-like vegetation. Transfer via speedboat to the island (Cayo Arena - an approximate 15-30 minute ride). At the island your guide will provide information about the day program at the island and orientation about the ecological environment and security instructions. Embark on guided snorkeling tours around the island (equipment provided) and diving tours (extra charge for equipment) are available. On the way back to Punta Rusia, you will travel (approximately 1 hour) through the Mangroves of the National Park with its unique fauna and wildlife.
