Five lakes in a mountain region in Central Afghanistan, created by the carbon dioxide rich water coming out from the fractures to deposit calcium carbonate precipitate. The color of the lakes is incredibly blue. The lakes became a national park only in 2008, although their beauty was recognized much earlier, in 196o. But due to the instability of the capital's government at that time, it wasn't recognized as a national park. Also, in 2004 the lakes were added on the UNESCO's World Heritage List.
