The Blarney Stone is part of a tower of Blarney Castle in Ireland and it was set there in 1446. Its powers are unquestionable, but its story can still spark a fiery debate. In the old days, visitors were held by their ankles and lowered over the battlements, with their head down. Nowadays the kissing method is a bit safer. One has to lean backwards, holding on by an iron railing. Legend says that whoever kisses the stone, will be blessed with the gift of eloquence.
There are many theories of how this chunk of bluestone got here, and also, the origins of the kissing tradition are shrouded in uncertainty. One thing we know for sure is that if you'll make the effort of visiting the castle and kissing Blarney's Stone, you will be rewarded with ‘gift of the gab’.
