Cape Leeuwin is the most south-westerly mainland point of the Australian continent and it's one of the great capes of the world. The first ship to ever sail here was the Dutch vessel "Leeuwin", in 1622. Not much is known of this voyage, but the land discovered was recorded on a map by Hessel Gerritsz, in 1627.
The cape is home to Western Australia's tallest lighthouse – Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. The lighthouse is an important landmark and also a collection point for meteorological information.
Visitors can learn about the maritime history of the area, view fantastic marine life including dolphins and whales, and climb to the top for an amazing view.
