With a height of 452 meters (1,483 feet), they Petronas Twin Towers were the tallest building in the world from 1998 to 2004. The 88 stories buildings are mostly made out of reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass facade, inspired from the Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia's Muslim religion.

The construction of the towers took seven years and it was designed by Argentine architects César Pelli and Djay Cerico. For the 120 meters deep foundation, large amounts of concrete were used.

Even though they were surpassed by Taipei 101, the Petronas Towers remain the tallest twin buildings in the world.
