Whistler Peak is located at 2182 m ( aprox.7160') in the Whistler Mountain, part of the Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains, located in British Columbia, Canada.
The original name of the mountain was "London", named after a the heavy fog and rain of the area. This choice for the name ended up being rather "gray" for attracting tourists, since advertising never really took off (of course, the place lacked the Queen and the Buckingham Palace too).
However, with the big take off of the ski resort in the late 1960s the name was changed to "Whistler", an inspiration from the whistling calls of the marmots, also known as "whistlers", who were also residing in various parts of the mountain.
