Traveling from La Spezia, Riomaggiore is the first of the Cinque Terre. Via Dell'Amore starts here, and it will take you all the way to Manarola. Like the other villages, this one too is a gem along the Mediterranean.

I liked
The fact that the train station overlooked the Sea. Our apartment was only a short walk up Via Colombo the main street in Riomaggiore. I love how all the locals know eachother and that there are no cars parked in the town, they have a large carpark at the entrance to the town. This is truly a wonderful town. I am travelling with my husband and 2 children aged 10 and 7. Our kids love it here too, we do the short walk from Riomaggiore to Manarola and swim in the lovely cove there. Our apartment is cosy but totally worth it to see the town come alive every morning and the fresh produce arriving is great. I can recommend www.homelidays.co.uk for apartments around Europe. Tip: when in Italy "go with the flow" whether it is crowded or not. If you let crowds bother you, you don't have a good time and it ruins your vacation. Immerse yourself into the culture!I disliked
Nothing... it is true. If I have to write something here then ... I dislike the fact that I am unfit and get puffed at the top of the hills. Quite seriously the hills here are small and really not that bad, I am extremely unfit, my husband and kids run up the hills like they were walking on flat land.
