It’s a warm and causal name for a formal and elegant hotel. Louisa’s Place is a high-end all-suite hotel, a boutique hotel in the truest sense — not a design hotel but a small, independent luxury hotel, with a location right on the Kurfürstendamm, close to some of the most tempting shopping and entertainment options in the heart of Berlin.
The house dates back to 1904, and it’s proudly stayed true to its original style, with no modernist furniture to be found anywhere; just immaculately maintained architecture, the interiors of the public spaces restored with antique-style furnishings and décor. Suites are big, wide-open, some of them slightly more sparsely furnished, but all of them equipped with large modern bathrooms and highly functional kitchens.
Like any good hotel it’s a lot more than just a building. Service is an area of special emphasis at Louisa’s Place, and guests are indulged in a way that’s rarely seen in hotels so small. There’s a full-service spa, complete with indoor pool, the hotel’s concierge service is of special repute, and the Balthazar restaurant serves a versatile and upscale cuisine, headed by a chef who, as it happens, is a world-champion risotto cook.
