At the moment the Palermo Soho neighborhood is the epicenter of everything creative that’s happening in Buenos Aires — and as such it’s where most of the new developments in the hotel scene are happening as well. Here, just off the Plaza Cortázar, is the Mine Hotel Boutique, a lively and contemporary example of this gentrifying district’s new creative character.
The owners, former media professionals Marcelo and Paula Kohen, set out to create a hotel that feels like a home. It’s a warm and welcoming sort of boutique hotel, the name intended in the possessive sense rather than the mineral-extracting sense; there’s a bit of stone here but plenty of wood as well, and the look, while contemporary, is anything but chilly. With just twenty rooms it’s intimate, and spatially the Mine revolves around a central patio and a garden with a small pool.
Services are somewhat minimal — little more than a deli and café — but the bustle of Palermo Soho is intended to pick up the slack. From restaurants and bars to shops and boutiques it’s all here, and at the end of the day the Mine Hotel Boutique awaits, with its hand-picked staff and its guest-house ambience.
