Hotel description

If it’s classic architecture and antique furniture you’re after, we can direct you to a number of very fine Roman hoteliers who’d be more than happy to have your business. But if you prefer a more contemporary style, your options are a bit more limited — and throw budgetary constraints in the mix and you’re just about out of luck. Or you would have been, that is, if not for the Orange Hotel, a refreshingly stylish and cheeringly cheap boutique hotel of the modern-design variety.

And if there’s a catch it certainly isn’t in the location. You’re in the Prati, close by to the Vatican and the Basilica di San Pietro, and convenient to such earthly concerns as the shops and restaurants along Via Ottaviano and Via Cola di Rienzo.

Inside you’ll find smart, crisp interiors, muted but not monochrome — we’ll leave it to you to guess what the accent color is. Rooms are fairly compact but uncluttered, and the fixtures and furnishings are well-chosen and rather original. The most thoughtful touch is probably the roof terrace — there’s nowhere better for breakfast or for a drink at sunset, as the sun goes down over the Basilica di San Pietro.
