Hotel description

Located on Pantelleria, a tiny Mediterranean island closer to Tunisia than it is to Sicily, the Santa Teresa Resort blends Italian and African styles. Sprawled out over a hundred-acre farm and vineyard, the Santa Teresa encompasses 18 bungalows, grouped in four small “villages,” each with its own semi-private swimming pool. The rooms, designed by local architects, are simple structures, many with high vaulted ceilings and cathedral windows, decked out in soothing whites and neutrals, with candles or oddball antiques tucked into alcoves, out of the way.

Those village pools come in handy, as you’re a car ride — albeit a brief one — from the beach. But there’s much to recommend remaining on the grounds. The property’s landscaping is lush, with bold botanic flourishes amid arid volcanic terrain, including the private oasis of an Arabian garden where guests may enjoy their complimentary breakfast or relax with a cocktail in the evening, or a glass of wine, produced on-site to complement the traditional Arabic fare. Golfers will find much to love about the property’s practice greens, and for the more adventurous, the hotel offers mountain bike and small watercraft with which to explore the island. Whether your intent is to relax or invigorate, you’re sure to find your niche within this Sicilian hideway.
