We leave Veracruz for the Zempoala archeological zone, a Totonacan ceremonial and astronomical center. Zempoala is a Nahuati word ,in the Aztec language, meaning "Twenty Rivers". You'll be able to see the mayor temple, the temple of the chimneys, the temple of the Lord of the Wind, the gladiator circle, the chimneys of the eternal flame and the last standing remains of the ramparts. We'll head out to La Antigua a little later where we'll stop and look at what used to be Lopez de Santa Anna's horse stables. Further along we'll arrive at Rosario's Church that was built in the 16th century by the Franciscans, and the Hernan Cortes house built out of raw material found in the region. In addition to seeing other interesting historical sites we'll take a tour of the city and see the hanging bridge. Here you'll be able to go into a handicraft shop to watch the craftsmen at their trade. These handicrafts, unique to this region, are made out of coconut husks.
