Donkeys and mules are part of the charm of the island of Santorini. These are the only animals willing and able to go up and down the mountain, on this hot weather, without grumbling. They carry visitors from the old harbour to the town of Fira, and children are waiting anxiously for their turn. Donkeys are really friendly, especially with children, and it's a real joy riding them up to Fira.

only a torture for those poor donkeys! No water no shadow for the whole day but a lot of brainless tourists! How can somebody with a brain do such a donkey-ride?!
