When designing the Oslo-Bergen line, the connection to the Sognefjord was neglected, so this called for a second intervention.
Passing 20 tunnels, 1 bridge and 4 water tunnels, the train stops 8 times, climbing up to 863,6 m above sea level. In 1915, the estimated traffic was 22,000 passenger a year, but by 2007 the new record was set to 582.826 passengers.
