This package offers you a unique opportunity to visit a number of blue ribbon fly fishing rivers in the Quesnel Lake watershed. Rivers such as Mitchell River, Horsefly River, Cariboo River, Quesnel River, Blue Lead, and some of our favorite smaller rivers, streams, and creeks in our spectacular Cariboo Mountains flyfishing playground. These waters are all home to wild, native trout ranging in size up to 20 lbs and offer excellent dry fly and streamer fishing. Fishing for wild trout in the quiet solitude of the river, disturbed only by the splash of the big ‘bow dancing on the end of your fly line, is the ultimate trout fishing experience. And if you can tear yourself away from the fishing you will find these pristine wilderness river ecosystems refreshing to your spirit as you take in the antics of the native wildlife in their natural habitat. You may even see a mountain grizzly enjoying his favorite salmon dinner.
Fly fishing is excellent throughout the season – dry fly from mid-June thru August and wet flies and egg patterns throughout the fall months give you nonstop exciting action for big ‘bows and voracious Dolly Varden. Hundreds of thousands of sockeye return to these rivers each year to spawn and complete their life cycle making this watershed host to British Columbia’s largest and most noted salmon run. Drift fishing and wading are the best methods for fishing the rivers. For a relaxing change of pace this package also includes a visit to an outstanding series of remote mountain fly fishing lakes where the dry fly fishing is superb. You also get to enjoy the magnificent mountain beauty of our back country – uncrowded and pleasing not only to the eye, but to your spirit. With such a wide choice of opportunities you and your guide will pick the waters offering the best fly fishing opportunities during your stay. Rivers are catch and release and barbless hooks are required.
