Your adventure begins with pick-up at your hotel to the Airport. After boarding your Airplane, you’re up and away, over the colossal Hoover Dam. You’ll get the ultimate bird’s eye view of Lake Mead, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. After about 45 minutes in the air, your plane lands at Grand Canyon West, on the Hualapai Indian Reservation. Known in their language as “the people of the tall pines,” the Hualapai Indians are one of several Native American tribes residing in Arizona.
In 1988, they began to develop their own tourism enterprise on the rim of the Grand Canyon called “Grand Canyon West.” Upon entering the complex, you’ll embark on your tour of the Hualapai Indian Tribal Park. Your first stop is Eagle Point, where you’ll learn more about the Native peoples of the Southwest by touring replicas of their traditional dwellings. At the nearby amphitheater, you’ll experience another aspect of Native American traditions with a dance or other type of cultural performance. From there, you’ll be taken to Guano Point, named for a defunct mining operation. Here you’ll sit down to an outdoor barbecue lunch where everyone gets a table with a view! After lunch, take time to walk around the promontory to see some of the remnants of the old mine and cable car, and some spectacular views of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River.
