Itinerary City tour starts visiting the Cathedral, located in the Main Square. It was built on the same place as the original 1555 building, and was rebuilt under the direction of the Jesuit priest Juan Rehr after the 1746 earthquake. Its remarkable wooden choir stalls, altars and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, who died in 1541, are to be noted.

We will then visit the San Francisco Church, one of the most visited churches in Lima; with its convent, museum of colonial art, cloisters and catacombs. The central nave is known for its beautiful ceilings painted in a style called Mudejar (a blend of Moorish and Spanish designs). The best part of a tour is a visit to the vast catacombs. The city's first cemetery, these underground tunnels contains the bones of some 75,000 people. In many places the bones have been stacked in eerie geometric patterns playing with skulls and femur bones.

Afterwards, panoramic tour of the City Centre with its impressive colonial architecture; the Main Square, the Government Palace, the Municipal Hall, the “Desamparados” Train Station, and finally, drive through the old streets with their vice royal mansions and Moorish style balconies. You will continue through the most traditional residential and commercial areas of contemporary Lima, passing by sites of pre-Columbian Civilizations dating back to the beginning of the Christian era. The tour ends with you enjoying a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.

Note: In Regular Service, the city tour is panoramic, except the Convent of San Francisco (Art Museum, Cloisters and Catacombs).

Participant restrictions

This tour considers children up to 7 years old.
