The Insider's Look at the Lowcountry's History and Nature package includes a private docent tour of the Coastal Discovery Museum at Historic Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, a docent tour of Heyward House in Old Bluffton and a round trip boat ride and tour on Daufuskie Island to learn about its remarkable 4,000 year history.

A visit to the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn includes a private docent-led tour of the house and grounds. Begun in 1859, the house served as a home and a hunting retreat. Today, Honey Horn is a preserved site used to showcase the lowcounty environment and architecture and provide a venue for education, arts, local events and galas.

Built as a summer home for plantation owners, the Heyward House Historic Center, located on the mainland in Old Town Bluffton, combines Lowcountry history, crafts and culture. An 1840’s structure in near original condition, the Heyward House offers an informative docent guided tour of the house and gardens.

Set sail from Broad Creek Marina on Calibogue Cruises' Capt. Eulice to Daufuskie Island. There, you'll take a two-hour Old Historic Daufuskie Island guided bus tour of the island. A knowledgeable local guide will delight you with fascinating stories about Daufuskie life during the Civil war and the interesting Gullah culture.

Hours of operation

The tours are available Tuesday through Saturday. The ferry departs from Broad Creek Marina at 10:00am. The tour begins on Daufuskie Island at 12Noon. The return ferry departs Daufusksie’s Freeport Marina at 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm, 6:30pm. Coastal Discovery Museum: Monday–Saturday 9:00am–4:30pm, Sunday 11:00am–3:00pm. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Heyward House Historic Center: Monday–Friday 10:00pm–3:00pm, Saturday 11:00am-2:00pm. Closed Sundays and holidays.
