Highlights / General details

This tour is carried out on Friday, the traditional market day in Octolan de Morales; which is 30 KM to the souch of Oaxaca. This is one of the most authentically Indigenous markets near the capitol. During the tour, we visit two more towns. In Santo Bartolo Coyotepec we have the opportunity to observe the ancient Mesoamerican methods of potting. This technique was revived by the legendary Dona Rosa who worked exclusively in black clay to produce black pottery. In Santo Tomas Jalietza, the women use a simple traditional back strap loom to weave a great variety of imaginative and delicate textile products.
