Highlights / General details

With more than 4,000 animals and 800 species, the San Diego Zoo has one of the largest collections of exotic wild animals in the world, with attractions like: Panda Canyon, Sea Lions Rock!, Elephant Odyssey, Monkey Trails, Polar Rim, The Outback, Africa Rocks, Tiger River & more.

Almost every kind of animal could be found at the San Diego Zoo! Your favorite animals at the zoo come from all over the world including Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, and the Arctic. The zoo gives you the chance to see animals that you would not encounter on your own and learn more about the creatures we share the earth with.

There is always something new at the zoo, with newborn babies introduced year round and endangered animals and plants being taken in for the study of their restoration and conservation. The San Diego Zoo offers shows that are both fun and educational. Sea Lions Rock! showcases California sea lions and other exotic animals. There are daily shows throughout the zoo where monkeys, felines, and birds demonstrate their special abilities. You can also opt to take part in an activity at the zoo like feeding the giraffes, taking a guided bus tour, or riding on the Skyfari tram for an aerial view of the zoo and the animals.

The San Diego Zoo will give the visitor a better understanding of the animal kingdom and an exciting experience in learning about the animals of the world!
