Highlights / General details

A professional guide will accompany you on a journey through the history of this mystical place, that will surprise you as it once must have surprised Mesoamerican ancient travelers who came from other cities of its time. Our tour begins at Tlatelolco, today the largest archaeological site in Mexico City that formed part of the capital of the Aztec empire. Here was the biggest market of that empire and here was consummated the conquest of the Aztecs. Right there lies the Plaza of the Three Cultures where the prehispanic, colonial and present of Mexico get together. The city of Tlatelolco was once connected to the North by a wide avenue leading to the hill of Tepeyac where the Aztecs worshiped Tonantzin, today better known as Our Lady of Guadalupe and is precisely here where we will make our next stop. Today popularly known as La Villa or the Basilica of Guadalupe, is the most important religious building in all of Mexico and one of the most visited places in the Catholic world, which annually receives more than twenty million pilgrims. The Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico is not only a religious symbol, it is also a symbol of identity for Mexicans, it is no coincidence that the first president of the republic will be called Guadalupe Victoria. For all that the visit to the Basilica of Guadalupe is a must for believers and nonbelievers. After the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, we continue our journey to Teotihuacan, "City of the Gods" which is northeast of Mexico City. On the way we will see the organized chaos on the suburbs of the city. Once in the Teotihuacan Valley first we will stop to recharge our batteries with Tequila tastings and other local spirits, where we also learn about the importance of obsidian for Teotihuacan ancient and modern economy and then give satisfaction to the body with rich Mexican food (food not included). Once satisfied our palate and appetite we enter the archaeological site of Teotihuacan, here pleasantly the guide will tell us about the history of Teotihuacan, its mysteries, its development, its grandeur, its importance and its fall, then we will have free time for those wishing to climb the Pyramid of the Sun, Moon and walk through the famous "Avenue of the Dead".
